[englisch, 'driːmpɔp, wörtlich »Traum-Pop«], Ende der Achtzigerjahre in London entstandene, von der britischen Musikpresse kurzzeitig überschwänglich gefeierte Musikbewegung, die im Anschluss an Brian Enos (* 1948) Ambient-Konzept sowie den synthetischen Postpunk der schottischen Cocteau Twins mit surrealen Soundkreationen auf sich aufmerksam machte. Als Initiator gilt das Londoner Quartett My Bloody Valentine, dessen Alben »Isn't Anything« (1988) und »Loveless« (1991) zu Marksteinen dieses Musikkonzepts wurden. Weitere Vertreter waren die Bands Ride, Slowdive, Chapterhouse, Curve und Cranes.
